This past winter we had the great privilege of teaming up with our friend Brittany from Hatch on her son’s first birthday party. She had planned to throw a Circus themed birthday bash and we gladly stepped in to lend a hand with the planning and decor! First birthdays are pretty tough – you want to celebrate the big 1, but your kid isn’t quite old enough to really understand what is going on….hence the peanut martini and swedish fish jello shots! We loved how we were able to incorporate a fun and stimulating birthday full of games, music and silly noses for the kids, but it was still fun enough for all the adults to enjoy! Nina Price Photography did an absolute amazing job of capturing the day and all of our detailed decor!
And no birthday party is complete without a photo booth for some fun!
We were so delighted and thrilled to not only design, decorate and set up a surprise 50th birthday, but we were happy to host it as well! My (Lauren) parents are 19 days apart and both turned 50 years young this year. As they were so kind enough to throw such a beautiful wedding for Ryan and I over the summer, we just had to return the favor, and thus the idea of a birthday bash was born.
Once belovely was born this fall, Colleen was quick to jump on board with helping create such a wonderful event. My parents have always dreamed of taking a dream vacation to London, which quickly became our decor inspiration. In lieu of any gifts, we also set up a fund in which people could donate to in order to help send them on a trip over the big pond. (we did this on honeyfund.com – even though it wasn’t a honeymoon trip the site was so easy to personalize and donate to that it was the obvious choice in organizing such a fund)
We had all our guests sign the photo 50 we put up in order to put all the photos in a photo book after the party to create not only a guest book but a collection of many years of memories. The rest of the party included a suitcase for cards, lots of balloons, custom hand drawn London inspired mirror, a huge Beatles poster, and photos (and a slide show) of their lives just to name a few. Invitations were designed by our belovely girl, Haley (see more of here designs here) and we just love how they turned out. Not to mention the surprise part went off without a hitch! Happy birthday to my absolutely fantastic parents!
A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of decorating and styling a 6 year old birthday for none other than the famous Allie! (see her as a flower girl in Lauren and Ryan’s wedding on Heidi Vail’s Blog here). Her request was for a ‘cat’ party since she just loves kitties (she even got a cute little cat for her birthday from her parents!)
We were able to mold it into a Pet Shop theme and we are just thrilled with the way it turned out. Unfortunetly it was a rainy day so we had to set up the party indoors, but it all worked out and the kids had a blast! A special thanks to our satellite belovely girl – Haley for designing yet another beautiful invitation!
How awesomely adorable are those cake pops! Made by the talented Honey Miss Confections, and may we just say they are so delicious! Among some other activities and games, the kids enjoyed a pet eating contest where they had to eat cereal out of a pet bowl without their hands, but if we had to guess their favorite part of the party – face painting by far!
